2011 beschlossen die beiden Bibliothekare Lisa und Phil in New York, gemeinsam Musik zu machen - der Beginn von Pale Lights. Die beiden hatten bereits vorher gemeinsam in The Soft City gespielt. Maria Pace, Suzanne Nienaber und Andy Adler komplettierten die nach einem Felt-Song benannte Band, in der eine Menge Indiepop-Kultur steckt. Phil war erster Drummer unserer Lieblingsband Comet Gain, bevor er in die USA auswanderte, Andy spielte z.B. in Crystal Stilts, Gary Olsen von Ladybug Transistor nahm die beiden Platten der Band auf. Das zweite Album erschien 2017 bei Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten in Augsburg, das Cover gestaltete Fred von den BV's.
Die Musik der Gruppe aus Brooklyn beschreibt Roque Ruiz von Cloudberry Records treffend als "heartfelt jangly indiepop crafted in perfection."
Wir können gar nicht ausdrücken, wie sehr wir uns darauf freuen, zu Liedern wie Jean, bring the flowers oder You were my sweetheart zu tanzen!

After their band The Soft City went into a hiatus Phil Sutton (the first Comet Gain drummer) and Lisa Goldstein started a new band and named it after a Felt song. Pale Lights were born. Maria Pace, Suzanne Nienaber and Andy Adler joined the band.
In 2014 Gary Olson of The Ladybug Transistor recorded Pale Light's debut record Before there were pictures. The second album - another indie pop masterpiece was released on Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten.
Pale Light's songs are "heartfelt jangly indiepop crafted in perfection" (Cloudberry Records Blog), exactly the music we had in mind when we founded Cologne Popfest!
