Seit wir die Idee hatten, ein Cologne Popfest zu veranstalten, standen Even As We Speak ganz oben auf unserer Wunschliste - zusammen mit den Housemartins und Heavenly. Umso weniger glauben wir, was wir hier schreiben: Even As We Speak spielen im März beim dritten Popfest in Köln!
Even As We Speak entstanden 1986 in Sydney und wurden dank John Peel in England bekannt und veröffentlichten in der Folge ab 1990 vier Singles und eine Platte bei Sarah Records. Die Singles One step forward und Beautiful day waren Top-5-Hits im NME und in Melody Maker. Über ihre Sarah-LP schrieb der Melody Maker: "'Feral Pop Frenzy' is both playful and powerful - flights of fancy alternating with starbusts of pure pop brilliance."
2018 spielten Even As We Speak fantastische Konzerte beim Indietracks und gemeinsam mit ihren Sarah-Bandmates Secret Shine, Boyracer und Action Painting! auf einer kleinen Tour in England. Und im März 2020 kommen sie nach Köln!

Since speaking about having a Cologne Popfest while waiting for the last four shows at FortunaPOP!'s last festival, Even As We Speak were on our wish list - together with The Housemartins and Heavenly. We are too old to believe in fairies but hey! one of our dreams comes true!
Even As We Speak were founded in 1986 in Sydney and got John Peel's attention with their cover of Bizarre love triangle. Sarah Records released four singles and a record and John Peel played Even As We Speak's songs multiple time in his shows and did three sessions with them between 1992 and 93.
The band played New York Popfest in 2016 and released new music in 2017. A new album will be released shortly.
2018 EAWS played an Indietracks headline show and a UK tour with their Sarah labelmates Action Painting!, Boyracer and Secret Shine. And in March 2020 they will play our Cologne Popfest at Blue Shell!
