Apropos Sarah Records... Daran haben wir vor einigen Monaten auch noch nicht geglaubt: am Samstag werden Blueboy bei uns spielen!
Blueboy gründeten sich Ende der 80er Jahre in Reading und veröffentlichten sieben Singles und zwei LPs auf Sarah und prägten damit den Stil des Labels. 1999 löste die Band sich auf, 2007 starb Sänger Keith Girdler.
Vor wenigen Wochen erschien das Buch "These things happen: The Sarah Records Story" von Jane Duffus. Für die Präsentation spielten Gemma und Paul ein akustisches Blueboy-Set, das uns vor dem Bildschirm so begeistert hat, dass wir die beiden sofort einladen mussten! Wie so viele Lieblingsbands haben Blueboy leider noch nie in Deutschland gespielt. Im April ändert sich das! Too good to be true!
Speaking of Sarah Records... A couple of weeks ago we watched a breathtaking acoustic Blueboy show on our computers. Gemma and Paul of Blueboy were part of the presentation of Jane Duffus' book "These things happen: The Sarah Records Story" in Bristol. We needed to invite the two! And here we are: a dream come true, Blueboy play Cologne Popki... Popfest!
Blueboy were founded in the late 80s by Keith Girdler and Paul Stewart in Reading. After releasing singles and records on Sarah and later on Shinkansen Blueboy split up in 1999. The band left so many indie pop anthems and is an important part of our musical DNA. If you'll notice some tears in our eyes on Popfest Saturday it's just an allergy!
