Als der NME 1986 seine C86-Kassette veröffentlichte, rechnete vermutlich niemand damit, dass der Name des Tapes einmal eine Genrebezeichnung werden würde. Neben Bands wie Shop Assistants, den Pastels, The Wedding Present, Primal Scream oder McCarthy waren auch die Close Lobsters auf der Kassette vertreten. Die Band aus Glasgow war brandneu und sollte im Oktober 86 ihre Debütsingle bei Fire Records veröffentlichen. Ende der 80er Jahre spielte die Band ihr bisher einziges Konzert in Köln.
Nach einer längeren Pause sind die Close Lobsters seit 2012 wieder aktiv und veröffentlichten seitdem Singles und EPs u.a. bei Firestation und Shelflife Records.
Wenn man sich die großartigen Songs der schottischen Band anhört, wird es allerhöchste Zeit, dass sie ihr zweites Köln-Konzert spielt. Und wir freuen uns sehr, dass das ausgerechnet bei uns sein wird!

In 1986 the NME released this now legendary C86 tape so showcase some new British indie bands. The tape contained songs by The Shop Assistants, The Wedding Present, Primal Scream oder McCarthy. And "Firestation towers" by the Close Lobsters. The Glasgow band was brand new and released their debut single in October of 86 (Fire Records). In 88 they played their only Cologne show.
After a break the Close Lobsters are active again since 2012. They released singles and EPs at Firestation and Shelflife Records.
If you listen to Close Lobsters' great songs (like we did over and over again in the last weeks), you'll agree it's time to have the Close Lobsters play Cologne again! In two months they will.
